# Portfolio and statements

## Holdings in shares

The Portfolio page reads a wallet's tokenized-stock balances from the chain and adds them up in **shares** across issuers. 1.2 shares from Ondo and 0.5 from bStock read as 1.7 shares of the stock, not two token balances. Anyone can paste any address to look at it; the data is public chain data.

* A token whose multiplier cannot be read is shown as unknown and excluded from share totals. It has no Sell button.
* Balances under $1 are left out of the main list and open in a dialog.
* Dividends show as shares gained: for Ondo the multiplier grows, so the same token count is worth more shares.

## Statements

A worker builds a statement per signed-in wallet and stores it as a snapshot: holdings, activity and realized or unrealized gain where the data supports it. **Realized gain is shown only where it is known.** A missing cost basis says "unknown", never zero.

The Statement tab exports a CSV from the same view model that draws the screen, so the numbers match. A PDF export (with a clickable "Generated by Tally" footer line) is queued.

## Activity

Activity lists the wallet's guarded buys, sells and Migrates with their status and a BscScan link, read from the receipts module.

## Suggestions for small portfolios

A wallet that holds fewer than three stocks sees suggestions: three minus the number held. It is not a recommendation engine. Candidates are tokens enabled on ShareGuard that Radar grades A or B (Liquid), not ghost and with fresh data, ordered by cleaned 24-hour onchain volume, then rotated per wallet by a stable hash of the address so different wallets see a different token first. While the wallet's holdings or the Radar data are still loading, it says so and suggests nothing. Smart recommendations are on the [roadmap](/reference/roadmap.md).

## Speed

Portfolio inspects only the tickers the wallet holds, caches the wallet-independent part for 30 seconds and runs at most four reads at a time. The first version walked every supported ticker one by one, which grew from 6 to 21 tickers and made the page take 15 to 20 seconds. See [Challenges](/building-tally/challenges.md#a-page-that-got-slower-as-the-list-got-longer).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.tallyprotocol.xyz/product-modules/portfolio-and-statements.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
